It’s not bull, it just doesn’t work for everyone or even a majority I would guess. But just because it doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for others! Seriously, if you believe that’s a valid way of thinking you are in for a rude shock. n=1, that means your experience counts for nothing in the scheme of things.
It’s not a magic spell. If you’ve ever been to a hypnosis show you’ll see that the hypnotist carefully vets those they bring on stage by various methods, because it works for some, and not everyone.
Looks like good old self control is what you’re going to have to rely on.
