Every teacher at the Denial Academy, male and female, was allowed a ‘Teacher’s Pet’. The girls would receive special instruction, care and tuition, while the teacher had their very own plaything for use in the quieter times.

The arrangement was always consensual, both parties agreeing to it, and monitored by the prefects and headmaster, to ensure both appropriate behaviour, and no undue bias in gradings.

And the headmaster himself? Well that’s what the Head Girl’s role was chiefly about. However as Head Girl, she was allowed a pet of her own, the only student given such a privilege. Most of them liked to pick a wide-eyed innocent First Year. It was often how their own path to Head Girlship had begun.
